Welcome to the ESOL Website!!
We welcome all of the ESOL students, including the new ESOL students and their families back to school.
We enjoyed talking with all of the parents and children at our October 26 ESOL Evening. Thanks for attending!
Our Vision
We, as teachers of speakers of ther languages, believe that all of our ESOL students can learn and be successful at Springwoods Elementary School.
Our Mission
We will plan our lessons following the PWCS curriculum, utilize a variety of materials to teach the grade level objectives and increase English language proficiency, treat our ESOL students with respect and fairness, and collaborate with other teachers so that our ESOL students will be confident, successful learners.
Mrs. Massack

General Information about the ESOL Program
The Springwoods Elementary ESOL center serves our seconds language learners of many cultures. Under the “No Child Left Behind Act”, Title III, each public school system is to provide equity in education to all children. The ESOL program at Springwoods ensures educational opportunities to all children of language and cultural diversity.
When a child is registered in the Prince William County Schools and there is another language indicated on the Home Language Registration Form, the child is referred to Central Registration Center at Ann Ludwig( 14575 Potomac Branch Drive ; 703-491-8432) for screening and eligibility. The completed screening results and parent permission are forwarded to Springwoods Elementary by a language specialist from the center. A student can also be referred for screening by a classroom teacher.
Those students who are identified ESOL and whose parents grant permission receive academic support from Mrs. Massack or Mrs. Delare. The instructional resource support is provided until a student can meet passing requirements in mainstream classes independently. If you have any questions, please contact us at the school number, 703-590-9874.
